Many of our customers don’t know that Brown Girl Bakery actually began more than 40 years ago in Oakland, California. It started with my mom and my five sisters in my family home. When we were kids we all wanted to prove to our mom who could bake the best cakes, pies, biscuits, cookies, and cupcakes. My two brothers hung out for the taste testing. We also wanted to know how mom made her sweet potato pies—they were soo delicious we had to hide them from each other. Sometimes the kitchen looked more like a science lab than a family eating area but plenty of love was everywhere and we all had a part in creating wonderful foods and desserts for family and friends. Brown Girl Bakery was founded on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
